The county hired more highway patrols. On my way into town i see someone pulled over. During lunch i get pulled over, and directly after talking to me they go to the the cop that pulled someone else over 300 ft away. Than 10 minutes later I see the same cop harassing someone else between towns. That’s 4 people in less than 10 miles

Its said that they send the new officers up here (northern norcal) so I imagine theyll be excessive for a little while. The two officers that talked to me looked younger than 25.

The roads that were never patrolled are Being patrolled regularly now.....its the end of an era

I feel you man. Ohio highway patrol stated goals last year was to crack down on speeding on my favorite driving road, which I happen to live on, and is one of the best motorcycle/sportscar roads in the area. Thankfully that didn’t happen because the state chose to repave the entire stretch of road in little bite sized chunks. That lasted the whole summer, ruined the road surface and discouraged the Highway Patrol who weren’t to keen on having their cars tarred every day due to repaving. Alls well that ends well :)

The officers were cool and told me to put a front plate on with no ticket. They could’ve gotten me for a host of other things, namely noise violations. He seemed like a bit of a car guy, asked me if I was building a racecar and patiently listened to my questions about the new charger squad cars.

Uh, what county? Inquiring minds—who drive through far Northern California several times a year and really prefer that part of a very long drive to go quickly—want to know.

Humboldt. 101 should be business as usual but they started patrolling some of the rural driving roads.

Ohio is really turning it up on police presence in all aspects. I live in a small town and the “Barney Fife” police squad I remember as a 16 year old driver is GONE. All the cops are very serious. There’s way more of them. And they used to drive friendly green Crown Victoria cars. Now they are shaved headed armored men in all black Chevy Caprices (Holdens) and Tahoes. Murdered out black, impossibly low profile light racks, and barely any badging. It sends a gestapo message that I don’t care for.

And I got a speeding ticket on I-71 back in the fall: which I contested (just to see if I could) but the prosecution was ruthless and the patrolman gave a ridiculously thorough and detailed account of my traffic stop. I mean they were PREPARD. There were several other police in attendance at my hearing and I was just like “woah”. They had their shit together and I had NOTHING. I mean...I wasn’t expecting to fight the law and win....I just wanted to see how the process worked. It was impressive. Uncomfortably impressive.

The city cops around here aren’t bad, the deputies are all awesome, they are friendly and really cool, the Highway Patrol live and breath to pull you over for any violation. They got cool cars though. One day I passed a highway patrol officer going the other way on a two lane country road. I was speeding and we both knew it, I saw him smiling at me as he locked in the speed but I was smiling too because I knew that right over the hill, a small country lane intersected the two lane. By the time he would have been able to turn around at the next driveway I was long gone. He got me one week later in the same spot. Karma :P
